The tradition of carpet weaving in Konya, former capital of the Seljuks, goes back to the 13th century. With the jijim weaving technique, different colored threads are applied between the weft and warp threads, on the reverse of the weave. It is often used to decorate a plainweave object, or to create small ornamental motifs, that may be scattered or in series. The groundweave underneath shows through, giving the impression of an embroidered motif, and it is often used to fill areas of negative space. Bristle wefts are often used to create a textured effect on bags, mats and quilts. This pure wool, geometrically patterned, colourful carpets would fit into a variety of different designs and room types. Cottage style, rustic, boho, eclectic and even minimal interiors can gain extra quality and coziness by these carpets. They can emphasize other color matching or contrasting items like lampshades, pillows, throws, side tables and furnitures.
