Anatolian Hand Woven Nomadic Yuntdagi Rug
Yuntdagi rug
Yuntdağı carpets are woven in the villages of Yuntdağı area in the north of the Manisa city center by Turkmens and Nomads. It is believed that the amulet motives on these pure wool carpets protect the weaver or owner of the carpet from the evil eye. The fringes are usually long and in form of braids. Dark blue, dark red and beige are dominant colors. The bordures are seperated with tiny ‘mice teeth’ and pearl motive lines from each other and are decorated with plane leave, ‘hands on hips’ and rosette motives. The geometrically shaped mihrab part is composed of eight-pointed star, ‘hands on hips’, shepherd’s mirror, almond blossom motives and in the center hook or key motives stand out. This medium sized rug can serve a nice accent for neutral coloured rustic and boho interiors and can be combined well with wooden, wrought iron and brass items, and accessories like pillows, lampshades, curtains etc. matching the rug’s colour scheme. It is suitable for a variety of rooms like living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, winter gardens, libraries, offices.
